Join a Dream Team and work on solutions to societal challenges for a year. You can apply until 16 September.
Dear student,
Do you want to make social impact and develop your personal and professional skills? Then this is your chance! By joining a Dream Team, you will work on solutions to societal challenges for a year. Whether you want to fight wildfires, tackle food waste on campus, want to increase mobility of spinal cord injury patients or improve the biological age of employees and students - within the Dream Teams you can put your knowledge, skills and creativity to full use.
In a Dream Team, you work together with 8 to 14 students from various fields of study (undergraduate and graduate) and with different skills.
For the coming academic year, we are looking for enthusiastic new students to move forward with the projects and to develop new ideas and solutions.
The teams
- Dream Team Burning Lowlands: Globally, we are seeing increasing numbers of large-scale wildfires caused by climate change. Given the complexity, the team is focusing on three main issues: vegetation/weather indices, stakeholder policy perspectives and materials for firefighter uniforms.
- Dream team VU Vital: How do we start living healthier, making us feel better about ourselves? Together with your team members, figure out how to improve the biological age of VU staff and fellow students.
- Dream Team Reduce Food Waste: Take on the fight against food waste at VU and learn how to make students and staff aware of sustainable choices. Together, you will work towards a greener VU campus!
- Dream team PULSE Racing: Combine sports, rehabilitation and technology to improve the mobility and vitality of people with spinal cord injury using Functional Electrostimulation (FES).
Why join
- You will develop skills that contribute to both your personal and professional growth.
- You will work on complex issues involving different stakeholders, a valuable experience for practitioners.
- You get the chance to work with interesting partners inside and outside VU, and learn to network and build relationships in a professional context.
- Researchers (ambassadors) support your team with their knowledge, skills and professional networks.
- You can earn extracurricular ECTS and in some cases even intracurricular ECTS.
- The Demonstrator Lab guides your team, offers practical support and organises training programmes to help you achieve your goals.
- You will gain a lot of new friends with similar interests.
Would you like to be part of one of the above Dream Teams? Apply by 16 September 2024 and upload your motivation and CV! More information can be found on: VU Dream Teams.
We look forward to hearing from you!
With entrepreneurial greetings,
